In Between Projects

Ok, I have to get better at keeping up with my blog. I've been a terrible slacker and I mean to get a bit more serious!

In my defense, I have been very busy with Etsy work.  I'm so excited my little shop has taken off and I even added a new listing, thanks to some special requests I received. In addition to wedding gowns and watercolor paintings of the bouquet, I do "Bride and Groom" drawings too.  I can't believe I hadn't thought of it, but thank you to the customers who asked for it. What a cool idea!

Then, one of my personal favorite wedding gown drawings:

The more folded and draped fabric, the better, I think! I love drawing all those folds and shading. Fabric is a fascinating subject.  Drawing with white pencil on black paper also adds to the challenge. It's like drawing in reverse, all the opposite shading you would do with a pencil on white paper. Am I making sense?  I don't always when I talk about my art!! I get so into it and in my own world.

Right now, I am working on a watercolor bouquet painting. I'm excited to have a flower painting to do, as flowers are one of my absolute favorite subjects. More on that one later. Until next time!

Latest Wedding Gown Drawing.

I was just back home for a couple of weeks, and my friend's mother asked me to do her new daughter-in-law's wedding dress.

9"x12" white pencil on black paper.  My favorite part of this dress was drawing the train. I really enjoy drawing folds in the material and the subtle shadowing.  It gives me a lot of satisfaction. :)

I'm still working on getting my Etsy Shop, PataraRose, off the ground.  If you're interested in a drawing for yourself, a friend, sister-in-law, sister, etc, please check out my shop! I also do watercolor paintings of bouquets, because I really love to draw and paint flowers the most :)

Thanks for looking!

Latest Etsy sale

I always get really excited when I have a sale in my Etsy shop.  I've been open a year, and besides a few sales from my friend, I've had exactly 2 sales from strangers.  I would really love to get that number to go up, so I'm going to share the latest drawing I did.  I do drawings of wedding gowns and watercolor paintings of bouquets and centerpieces.  I've had one bouquet sale and this most recent one was a gown sale.

This order was for a drawing of both the front and back of the gown, and I took a photo of just the front by itself after I completed it. I love drawing these dresses, I find drawing and shading all the folds in the fabric really satisfying.  I hope you like!

If you're interested in having a drawing or painting done for you, check out my Etsy shop. :)

More Wedding Gowns!

A few more wedding gown drawings I've been commissioned to do.

Technically a front view, but I did it from an angle here to show the train a little bit.

This dress I did a front and back view.  This is the detail of the front, of course.
 Back view...

And one more front and back view...

If you're interested in a gown drawing for yourself or a friend/family member, please visit my Etsy shop! I'd be happy to make one for you as well.

Wedding Gown Drawings

So I know I still haven't finished my watercolor painting of Plumerias yet (I know, I'm such a slacker...) but I have been working to set up a little business selling custom drawn wedding gowns. It all started with my best friend who got married last year.  She asked me to do a drawing of her dress and of course I did.

Everyone who saw it thought it was really nice and a great idea and I've had a few requests since then for drawings.  Talking some more with my BFF who is in the wedding gown business, she said this is an up and coming thing, and designers are starting to do sketches of their dresses for their bridal customers.  So I figured, why not give it a shot?  I took the leap and opened up a shop on Etsy today and I'm really excited about it.  Check it out for yourself!
